The breed is an old established breed, but only as of the 1930's did the breed come to the showring, and only as recently as the last 2 - 20 years been accepted by, standardised, registered and conferred with CC status by Kennel Clubs of the world.
For the last six years The Glen of Imaal Terrier Association has been campaigning for the recognition of The Glen of Imaal Terrier.
The Assocation can now proudly announce that The Glen of Imaal Terrier, thanks to The Kennel Club, has at last attained Championship Show status in the UK

A full set of CC tickets for Crufts (March), National Terrier (April), Birmingham Dog Show Society (May), Scottish Kennel Club (May), Welsh Kennel Club (August), and The Glen of Imaal Terrier Association (June), and a single set of CC tickets for South Wales Kennel Ass.(July) and Darlington (September) in recognition of their support of the breed.
