That's Us, The Glen Assoc. - or GOITA
.... the only Breed Club or Association in the UK recognised by and registered with the Kennel Club of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.
This year we celebrate our silver jubilee and have been registered with the Kennel Club as a breed club since our inception.
In this time we have seen much happen to the breed regarding status, classification and even, more recently, physically with the introduction of docking regulations as applied by the Kennel Club in 2007.
We have nearing 100 members covering approx 200 dogs at the last count, and err.. 0 international members, though as the Glen is one of the lesser known breeds our numbers were never likely to be in the thousands.. hundreds .. well, ...that many. But, what we lack in number (for now) we more than make up for with gameness, just like our dogs. We aim to use our new website to take the GOITA to the world and to bring the world to us and hopefully bring with it Glen lovers who want to join us.
The Association has campaigned for full CC status with the same 'never say die' attitude our dogs are so famous for, for the last ten years or so, and again just like our wee dogs, we stubbornly stuck to our task until we got the job done!! There is now full championship status conferred upon the Glen of Imaal Terrier as of Cruft's 2007, and tickets will be given out at no less than 8 Dog Shows this season.
