EXPLAINED

Internet Explorer : your pre-installed default browser, comes with all WINDOWS Operating Systems, and you are most likely using it now to view this webpage - if you look up to the very top of the browser is should read "www.GlenofImaal.info - website information & assistance - Microsoft Internet Explorer".
Alternatives can be downloaded from varying sources, such as; Netscape, Firefox, Opera,.. there are more...
This website should display normally in most modern browsers, but has been designed in Explorer, the most popular browser.

1024 x 768 resolution : This is the local resolution settings for your monitor/screen. The latest flat screen monitors that come bundled with a PC 'package deal' are hi-resolution and the windows operating system that often comes already installed typically sets the default screen resolution to either 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024, however older operating systems with old bulky 15" monitors used to be set to 800 x 600 resolution by default. If you are trying to view this website in 800 x 600 resolution you will find yourself having to scroll everything up & down and from left to right. If you are viewing this website in a higher resolution you will find the website doesn't fill the page, but should have no trouble viewing the site entire. The website should display as designed in 1024 x 768 resolution.
to change the resolution :
Point your mouse to space on your desktop and right click, from the pop up system menu select 'properties' to open the 'display properties' system window. From the tab option along the top select 'settings' and here you should find a SLIDE BAR to set your resolution, set it to 1024 x 768, click 'apply' and 'ok' out

Full screen : In the top right hand corner of the browser sandwiched between the minimise _ and close X buttons, the little square (or overlapping squares) is the 'full screen' button. If you have a little square you are viewing a resized window, if you have overlapping squares you are in full screen. This website will display correctly in a smaller resized window if within 85% of the full screen height and width.
note : A toolbar (or toolbars) integrated into your browser will affect the 'height' of your full screen option and you might have to scroll to open certain sections and view particular pages of this website. Toolbars can be minimised by adjusting your browser settings. From the browser controls on the top left hand corner.. FILE EDIT VIEW FAVOURITES TOOLS HELP .. select 'view', and from the drop down menu select 'toolbars'.. this should open another system dropdown menu of toolbars installed on your browser, with the ones in use checked/ticked as operating; to minimise the toolbar(s) simply uncheck the toolbar.

Macromedia Flash Player : is a programme that allows your PC to play Flash Files. Many PCs already have it installed and if you don't have it installed you won't be able to use this website because the buttons that allow you to browse the website are Flash Files.
Now, if you don't have flash installed, you will already have declined an invite to install Macromedia Flash Player that popped up asking you if you wanted to install and run Flash Player. Lots of websites contain Flash Files and they are used for more than buttons.. the 'Tour of the Glen' in the 'Everything Else' section if also a Flash File, for instance.
If you still need to get Flash Player... you can get the latest version FREE from here

Java Enabled : Java is a programme language that allows your PC to access Java based programmes. There is one such feature in this website, and it is the chat programme. Unlike chat clients you might use or have heard of, such as MSN messenger, AOL Instant Messaging (AIM), Yahoo Instant Messenger (YM) etc. that all require you to download and install a programme on your computer, the chatroom feature in this website is Java Based; this means that the programme is run on the computers of the people who provide the chatroom, and all you have to do is enable your PC to use this Java language in order to be able to 'chat' with the provider's computers. This is what we mean by 'Java enabled'.
To enable Java : again, go to the controls in the top left hand of the browser FILE EDIT VIEW FAVOURITES TOOLS HELP, and this time select 'tools', from the dropdown sysytem window select 'Internet Options' to open the system window 'Internet Options'. From the tab options across the top select 'advanced' to open the advanced options panel.... it should read as a dropdown menu with main folders such as 'accessability' and 'browsing' with a whole load of specific sub folder options to check or uncheck.... scroll down until you find the folder related to Java and ensure the 'enable' box is checked (ticked) before applying and closing. This action can easily be undone by following the same path and unchecking the box.
